For Cliff M. Rossberg, art has served as a vehicle for a unique journey. His artistic expressions began at a young age in the form of pencil drawings. Whether those subjects were cartoon characters, war scenes, or Montana`s wildlife, it was the beginning. At age fifteen, he took several oil painting lessons from Shirley Tippets Sand.

His first images were loosely detailed impression of scenic Montana, Indian teepees, Square Butte, and wildlife. Oil paints allowed time to blend and mix the colors and proved to be the perfect medium to progress from drawing. Over the next six years, Cliff painted exclusively in oils and his images gradually became more detailed, realistic images of wildlife and landscapes.

Cliff`s professional turning point occurred when his mother, JoAnn Sneed, published his painting, "Greenhead Hideaway" as a limited edition print. I remember telling her she was crazy to spend that kind of money and that my art was not good enough. I now look back and am thankful that she had the knowledge and belief in my skills as an artist. The success of that image gave me confidence at a young age and has propelled me into a career as an professional artist.

Soon after releasing his first print Cliff focused on entering various trout and waterfowl stamp competitions and attending art shows and auctions. To date, Cliff has won four stamp competitions, the 1999 Delaware Trout Stamp, the 2000 Kentucky Trout Stamp, the 1999 Montana Duck Stamp and the 2001 Montana Duck Stamp.

A love for the outdoors and its inhabitants are the primary reason Cliff never runs out of ideas. Authenticating nature is no small task, and with each new painting, Cliff gets closer to his personal goal. Cliff`s subject matter and style are both growing and changing with time, never quite knowing where the paintbrush will lead him.

Currently, Cliff has fifteen limited edition prints on the market. He attends about four art shows a year, paints personal commission pieces, and continues to enter various trout and duck stamp competitions. His originals are widely collected and can be found in private collections in Canada, Australia, and throughout the United States.
